When clients ask me about my hosting style, I always tell them it’s simple, intimate but one that would definitely leave an impact on their special day. Whether it is for a wedding, debut or a corporate event, my goal is the same: To make everyone remember that event with good feelings and fond memories.
The first wedding that I hosted was for two dear friends. It was all for love. Another friend, who eventually went into the Wedding Coordinating business saw me and offered me an opportunity to host another wedding. After that second event, I felt that I was made for it. I enjoyed it so much that I didn’t even have to write my spiels and memorize it ahead of time. My thoughts just came flowing and the enthusiasm I felt for being part of the couple’s most special day made it all the more natural and simply true. I guess the hopeless romantic in me has finally found
its place under the sun and stars. I have been hosting weddings for 6 years already but I still get teary eyed every time I listen to the parents’ speeches and watch the brides dance with their fathers. The child in me also comes out as it takes in all the fun and laughter during the “games”. I swear my shrieks and squeals of delight are heard all the way to the parking lot. What can I do? I am enjoying it!
If mouth-watering signature dishes have secret recipes, then the passion I have for hosting events may well be the secret ingredient to the way I do it. I am grateful for this “job”, which I call a “blessing” because it really doesn’t feel like work to me. I believe this is quite rare. Most people work on jobs that they actually hate, but they have to stay because of the income, and for the lack of better opportunities. This is why I consider it a gem to be able to do something which i really love.
Hosting should be a passion. Once it is done for any other reason other than this, then it becomes a failure. A
futile attempt at sincerity. Because it is only with love when an emcee can really relate to her audience ,touch their hearts and speak their language. I first did it out of love for a dear friend and although I now do it professionally, my intentions have not changed since.
Hosting for weddings is and will always be a treat for me. It takes me back to the time when I too was a young, blushing bride, ready to run straight in the arms of the man i vowed to spend my life with. It’s a treat for me because I get to re-live this precious moment each time I have the opportunity to be a part of another couple’s love story. It’s a treat for me because I know that in my own little way, and never without God’s guidance, I have given them something to remember fondly forever.
